Adventure on Marma
On the planet Marma a team of astronauts try to reach a radio station. This is not an easy task, for it is a long way to go and some inhabitants of Marma are behaving in a rather unfriendly way...
The game
For this game you divide the class into two groups. One group play the astronauts (also called "the team"), the other group play the inhabitants of Marma.
The team walk along a course of five stations. At these stations they are attacked by the other group and defend themselves successfully. The students who are in the attacking group play at the stations different charakters living on Marma. When the course is finished, the roles are changed - the attackers become astronauts and the astronauts attackers.
Before every station the two groups get their instructions, which are contained in a a short story. Please have a look at the Text for the Team and the Course Plan before going on; so you get best the idea of the course.
"Adventure on Marma" is suited for younger students and should be done at the end of a course. The time needed is about 60 min.
Details
The following material is part of the game:
- the Text for the Astronauts (Text 1)
- The Text for the Attackers (Text 2)
- the Course Plan
- 12 Pictures from Marma
Most of these pictures show how the attackers look like.
They can be printed in DinA4 and may be shown at the
stations.
The texts and the course plan are suggestions - the final
form of the game depends of course on the techniques the students have learned so far and on the mental condition of the class. If the students have a good self-control, they may for example at the station "Ravine of Morgs" work in close distance. If they can´t control themselves so well, it will be better to work at this station with a security distance. In this case they should do the station "Rocky Slope" without punches or kicks too.
Room and Equipment
It is optimal to do the game in a well equipped and spacy training room; the course plan is made up for such conditions. But it also is possible to play the game in other rooms, if they are big enough. With some improvisation the stations can be installed without using special sport equipment: the floor mats for example can be replaced by a marking of adhesive tape; and the cones by chairs. If you have protective clothing for your classes, it is good to use shin protectives for the attackers and protective gloves for the "astronauts" - but it is possible to the the game without them too!
